Murphy’s Revision Laws

First Law of Revision :
In simple cases, presenting one obvious right way versus on obvious wrongway, it is often wiser to choose the
wrong way, so as to expedite subsequent revision.

2nd Law of Revision:
Information necessitating a change of design will be conveyed to the designer after – and only after – the plans
are complete

3rd Law of Revision:
If everything seems to be going well, you have obviously overlooked something.

4th Law of Revision:
The more innocuous the modification appears to be, the further its influence will extend and the more plans will
have to be redrawn.

5th Law of Revision:
When working toward the solution of a problem, it always helps if you know the answer.
– Corollary: Provided, of course, that you know there is a problem.

6th Law of Revision:
If there is a possibility of several things going wrong, the one that will cause the most damage will be the one to
go wrong.
– Corollary: If there is a worse time for something to go wrong, it will happen then.

7th Law of Revision:
All great discoveries are made by mistake.

8th Law of Revision:
Nothing ever gets built on schedule or within budget.
